I'm so excited to finally share Karolina's nursery. The room has been 99% completed for a while now, but trying to find the time to get it photo ready and take the actual photos has been challenging. In case you haven't seen my earlier post, here is what the room looked like before, and here is the mood board that helped envision the space. Hope you love it as much as we do! It's our favourite room in the house!

Wow, where did the time go?
In my last nursery update post I mentioned that I was about to paint the room and install the closet...well, mission accomplished. It was also my intention to blog about the process as it happened, but my new daughter had other plans! As my due date was fast approaching ( May 19th), time quickly running out, and my nesting instincts kicking in, I wanted not just the nursery to be finished but everything to be absolutely perfect for baby's arrival. I also had a Toronto condo to sell, so unfortunately my dear blog had to be pushed to the side. Luckily, most of the work on the nursery was done before my daughter arrived. I knew from experience there is not much free time once they get here, so I tried to at least get the painting, the closet, furniture, and window covering installing done, so all that was left was online ordering of small decor items.
On May 24th, 2016 we welcomed our daughter Karolina Heidi Martin. She's now 5 months, has taken up every once of my free time, but my heart has never been fuller and I have never been happier.
Here she is at 14 days,
and with her very proud older brother - Alexander - who is completely in love with her,
And here she is now at 5 Months,

I feel like one lucky momma.
It took 5 months to adjust but I am ready to come back and so excited to share with you the nursery transformation as well as many more projects that I have in store.

Last Saturday we celebrated my son Alexander's 2nd birthday and since this was probably the most effort I have ever put into party planning, I am selfishly sharing a few photos of the event.
I wanted a relaxed party where food is set up buffet style and where everything was prepped in advance with as little work as possible once the party started ... and of course the darn thing had to look pretty! Other than my camera going missing (which has since been found), the party was a success and our sweet boy loved every second of it, so most certainly a great day. Though it took some work to throw all this together, it was completely all worth it and probably the most relaxed (since Alexander was born) party we have had to date.

Now that this is behind me, I can concentrate on finishing that nursery before the baby arrives! Less than 1.5 months left !

I gravitate towards interiors that have a lot of unexpected contrast, not just between the different forms, colours, and texture but also between mix of styles and time periods. One of my favourite looks - a vintage home with modern furniture - creates that always-important opposition between pieces for a lot of visual interest.
Take a peek inside this beautiful french apartment from the 19th century. The colour palette of whites, grays, black, and warm wood and gold tones is a classic one I will never tire of. So much inspiration to take from here.
